DeRicki Johnson
DeRicki Johnson is a freelance writer and a small business “Startup Coach.”
DeRicki has assisted with several tech start-ups, including InDemand Interpreting, a leader in video remote interpreting (VRI) for hospitals and clinics, and Northwest Telephone, Inc. (NTI), purchased by Zayo Communications in 2008. He has over 30 years experience as a writer, consultant and entrepreneur, with stints inside "respectable" corporations, usually cast in the role of maverick, "intra-preneur", or change agent. He specializes in freelance writing, strategic planning and tech start-ups—usually on a mission to: 1. Create a new business; 2. Create new line of business in an established company; or, 3. "Jump start" innovation & change in static company cultures. Most notably, DeRicki created new lines of business for former BellSouth subsidiary, Dataserv, and then spun them out as new divisions. Among the new division spin-outs, he developed a project-management-for-hire group that, within 18 months, achieved a $12M per year run rate doing hardware installation and conversion projects for such customers as Walmart, Citibank, AllState, Target, and Kmart.
